Peter, I was chatting with someone who had been at the Diana Krall gig at the NIA in Birmingham. May and her boyfriend Nick were thrilled that you took the time to stop and chat (in the freezing cold) after the gig. I thought I'd pass that on.

Third World Man is still my all-time fav for a few reasons, Gadd sounds great on it, but more so that this was one of Jeff's favs and it was played at the funeral along with a few others in a looping fashion while we waited outside to enter the auditorium.

I think I might have wrote something ( i know I did for carlos which was on Mike Landaus original website). I don't know of anyone on HOD other then myself that was invited (but I could be wrong and if so my apologies). Over 1500 friends/family attended and when you got to the gate of Forest Lawn you had to inform whom you were before being able to drive up the hill to the Hall of Liberty. Jeff is buried directly across from the auditorium in the Lincoln terrace.
After parking we had to wait in line while the family inside and the band members had their own private function, the media was roped off to our right and on a small PA played 6 or so of Jeff's favorite tunes from Hendrix (wind cries mary) to Steely Dan. When the doors opened you were given a small program and the guest books were on a table for you to sign and give condolences.
Then you proceeded to find a seat inside, it was standing room only believe me and amazing to see the people whom turned out.. From Bonnie Raitt to Fee Waybill, Joe Sample and many others.
Speakers were Gary Katz on behalf of Fagen and Becker, Keltner (very touching and funny actually), Emil Richards, James Newton Howard, Jeff' managers from Fitzgerald and Harltey, Jeff's brother in law Steve Duddy, his Dr, and I think somone either read something from Springsteen or a tape was played, can't remember but I am pretty sure he did not attend.
Inside the handout was a heart touching lyric I suppose you could call it from Steve Forman (percussionist) entitled "Who Can We Get".
Honorary bearers were:
denny dias, dr jack rubino, mark hartley,larry fitzgerald,rick kellard, powers boothe, beau bridges, daniel johnson, keltner, vincent sinopoli, mark porcaro, david porcaro, kerry morris, gary katz, james newton howard.
the actual bearers were Mike and Steve Porcaro, Lukather, Paich, Ed Norris and Steven Duddy
to the life of my I cannot remember everyone that was in the drummer salute which followed the casket out to the resting place.
I had heard that Vinnie, SSmith, Gregg, & Weckl were there also, AWA many LA & a few NY session guys [naturally]. I could be wrong about a couple of those.

I am sure Vinnie and Greg were there, don't remember seeing any of them though, Steve Ferrone was sitting next to me and I do recall that. Matter of fact, most of Clapton's touring band was either next to me or in front of me.
Man, Randy, I got chills when I read your post. I can't get over the legacy Jeff left with us. I remember distinctly reading an article in the local newspaper about his passing. Every time I hear something he's played on, on the radio or in a store, I whisper to my wife: that's Jeff Porcaro.
